Exporting Reports to RPL format

Contents
[ ]

Many time the customers need to share the reports with issues for resolution with Aspose staff. If reports are shared in RDL form they also need to share the data set or schema along side to reproduce issue on our end. Sometimes, even sharing the RDL report along with data set does not resolve the issue completely. In such cases, we recommend to export the reports in RPL format and share the RPL file for report with us. The RPL file includes the data set used in it as well. This is even more easy to export to RPL and instantly shared with us.

Please perform following steps:

  • Copy to Aspose.ReportingServices.Debug.Rpl.dll to Reporting services bin directory (usually at c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.SQL2008R2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin).
  • Add following extension to tag of rsreportserver.config file (usually at c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.SQL2008R2\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config)

//Add this tag to <Render> element

   <Extension Name="ASRPLDEBUG" Type="Aspose.Slides.ReportingServices.DebugRplRenderer,Aspose.ReportingServices.Debug.Rpl" >

	  </Extension>

Specify path to resulted RPL files by modifying Path element.

  • Give Aspose.ReportingServices.Debug.Rpl.dll permissions to execute. To do this, open C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server<Instance>\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rssrvpolicy.config and add the following as the last item in the second to outer element ( which should be ) :
